Bilateral meeting between HIPO and SIPO

The delegation of the Hungarian Intellectual Property Office (HIPO) had an official visit at the Slovenian Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) in Ljubljana between 8 and 9 September 2025. The Hungarian delegation was led by Mr Szabolcs Farkas, President of HIPO, while the Slovenian delegation was led by Ms Karin Žvokelj, Director of SIPO.

The parties held a strategic discussion on advancing intellectual property policy and practice in the two countries, specifying SIPO’s National Strategy Plan, with insights from negotiation procedures and cooperation with Slovenian government bodies.

The key topic for both parties was to underlie the importance of strengthening IP valuation and IP-backed financing in the region, highlighting the possibility of future collaboration between SIPO and HIPO.

The conversation also explored pathways for commercialization of IP with a special emphasis on the role of university technology transfer companies. Additionally, copyright matters were addressed, focusing on the supervision of collective rights management organizations (CMOs) and the regulation of administrative fees.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to our Slovenian colleagues for the organisation of the successful visit. The meeting provided an excellent opportunity to further deepen our already successful cooperation and reinforce our mutual commitment in order to advance a stable and forward-looking IP system.
